- White Pumpkin - 2 Cup
- Toor dal – 1/2 cup
- Sambar onion [Shallots] – 7 to 10
- Tomato - 1 Medium Size
- Turmeric powder – 1/4 Tea Spoon
- Sambar Powder - 1 1/2 Table Spoon (Any Branded / Chettinad Samabar Powder)
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Mustard seeds – 1 Table Spoon
- Urad dhal - 1/2 Table Spoon
- Red Chilli - 1
- Tamarind – Small Lemon Size
- Asafetida - a pinch
- Salt - 1 Table Spoon
- Oil – 2 Table Spoon
How to Make:
- Soak tamarind in a cup of water.
- Peel Pumpkin and cut into cubes pumpkin like cubes.
- Wash & Pressure-cook toor dal for 3-4 whistles with pinch of turmeric powder. If Pan / Kadai, cook toor dal until smash.
- Once tool dal is cooked, add White Pumpkin cubes and cook for 5 Minutes and Keep it aside.
- Heat oil in a pan then add mustard seeds then add urad dhal. Once it’s spluttered add onion saute till soft then add red chilli, curry leaves, asafetida.
- Now add cooked Toor Dal and pumpkin.
- Add Tamarind extract.
- Add Sambar Powder and salt. Let it cook for 10 Minutes.
- Now Sambar is ready to eat with Idly, Dosai, Rice, Idiyappam, Upma, Chappathi and more...
